Outdoor adventure makes you physically active, takes you to natural surroundings and gets you immersed in a different culture, unknown so far to you!

It is obvious that you have to be ready for certain amount of risk (of physical security and your own safety). This occurs because you will have to drift down those activities that have inherent hazards.  And the destinations you travel to may not have developed infrastructure and facilities.

It is a unique experience when you reach an unknown location, which you would have never dreamed of. But you will love it if you seek adventure. You may lend into a God forsaken place which may shake you up.

If you are ruthless and courageous, outdoor adventure is the thing for you. It will have a sobering effect on you. However, you should not shirk away common sense must develop your sixth sense and trust your instincts.

You must always let your near and dear ones know your travel Plan. Every time you step out, stay connected with them

Use those apps on your smart phone which can track your movements. This is a must if you are traveling in a high-risk area.

This is an age of information. Get a basic review of risks and threat involved, in the areas of your travel plan. You need not get paranoid. If you search the web, there will be prior experiences of those travellers who have already been to that place. That comes very handy to keep you safe and secured.

Seekers of adventure are risk takers. Others stay at home. This adds rare value to adventure travel. It sure gets you those memories which are cherished lifelong.

Be alert and always be aware of your surroundings. Enjoy your travel.

FIND YOUR WAYS!!!

Ever since you started your journey,

There must have been times,

You had to take decisions on spot,

Choices were few,

There were no solutions in sight,

Though you knew,

Every situation,

Has minimum three solutions,

But you were,

Drenched and soaked wet.

So you had to let go,

Let it pass,

And you moved on.

Always summon you guts,

Trust your instincts,

Be not impulsive,

You will find your directions,

In any walks of Life.

Whenever you will,

Gather your courage,

And pick up a direction,

You will find a new destination.

Therefore pack up,

And say goodbye,

To any welter,

In your life.

Go for new challenges,

Or toughest situations,

You will find,

Tremendous excitement.

Find your own ways…

BEING A WANDERER!!!

Now I know, how one way leads to another,

Though I had apprehension,

Will I ever come back?

I tell this with great relief,

Lost somewhere,

For ages,

But now I am here.

Four roads diverged in the woods,

I always travelled,

On a road,

Less travelled.

To me,

That made all the difference.

A wanderer like me,

Always travel alone,

Since we are,

Seekers of the unknown.

All days begin before they end,

Sunrise never find us,

Where sunset left,

Even when the earth seems sleeping,

We travel.

NEVER ENDING JOURNEY !!!

Looked as if this journey will never end,

I continued from mornings till nights,

And there was no resting place,

Not a single roof to shelter for days,

Finally one place came to hide my face,

Eager to meet the dwellers,

Who had come much before,

Should I knock, or call when just in sight?

Will I find comfort for my sore feet?

I had taken the road never taken before,

Being the traveler never before,

Looked forlorn,

But finally I reached.

The place was homely and earthen,

It sank deep in my heart,

And I rested.

I did not give up and started in time short,

To where it went on and on,

Then took the other just like a fairy tale,

Perhaps for a better claim.

Have come so far,

Not worn out still,

With new mornings,

New beginnings and new horizons to seek,

I kept for still better days,

Not knowing how these roads will lead me,

Determined to fathom deeper and deeper,

Never doubting but telling this with a sigh,

I have bounced back again and again,

For there is a Keeper who provides,

Whatever I need and desire,

He rides ahead of me showing the way,

It doesn’t matter whatever storms may come,

On the way.

MARCHING PRIME!!!

As the wind blows sweet,

Our comrades soften up,

They find directions through stars,

Hustle up to progress with speed,

Their gait light,

Spirits soaring,

We march the distance prime,

Whistling our contingent tune,

Kettles brewing with Savory broth,

We quaff as we surge forth.

Miles to go with will to conquer,

The objectives to triumph,

We dither not.

The sand off was cheering,

At Target joint cry was in resonance,

Hence objective we realised.

Spirit of team banks on collective will,

With friends’ love we travel farther,

As if rivers and hills,

Are waiting,

Flowers and paddles are softer,

Route becomes familiar,

The spread of span seems vivid.

As the mist shines,

On the soft surface the sunlight shows the approaching dusk,

Marchers’ fatigues fade away.

There could be no better place to rest than this,

All squatter around,

Objective having attained,

As if we were on it since we started and were aware.

SECURITy WHILE OUTDOOR!!!

There are certain cautions one should keep in mind to avoid being frightened or intimidated when venturing alone.  For example, what you should do if approached by an attacker? Do not be another privacy invasion victim.

Fact is, we live in an increasingly violent society in which the fear of crime is ever-present. Personal safety has become an issue of importance for everyone.

Brought out below is some guidance everyone should know about personal safety:-

BEING AWARE IS IMPORTANT

Self-defence does not entail knowing Martial Arts. Self-defence is precursor to any actual physical contact. Most important and first component in self-defence is awareness. Be aware of yourself, your surroundings, and your potential attacker’s likely strategies.

The criminals also use most important element of attack, surprise. They pick up a target that appears to be unaware of what is going on around them. So project a forceful presence to avoid altercations which are commonplace on the street.

USE OF SIXTH SENSE OR INSTINCTS

Intuition is a powerful subconscious insight into situations and people. All of us have this gift. There is need to pay attention to it. Trust this power for availing its full advantage. Also, avoid a person or situation where you don’t feel safe.

LEARN SELF DEFENCE

Martial arts studios are best to be avoided unless you want to learn those techniques and ready to commit for long-term period. These techniques are complex and unrealistic under the stress of an actual attack. The program you should pick up should include simulated attack, building up realistic scenarios to allow you to practice what you learn.

BEST OPTION IS- ESCAPE

Imagine you are suddenly confronted by a predator who demands that you go with him — be it in a car, or into an alley, or a building. Obey, but you must never leave the primary crime scene. Run away and yell for help. Throw a rock at a store or car window. Attract attention. And if the criminal is after your purse or other material items, throw them away from you, while you run.

FIGHT WHILE YOU CAN

There may be a chance of physical confrontation. Always remember, you can and should defend yourself physically, even if you are not attacked first. Many of us worry that if attacker gets angry, he will hurt worse. The statistics clearly show that your odds of survival are far greater if you do fight back. Aim for the eyes first and the groin second. Remember, though, to use the element of surprise to your advantage — strike quickly, and mean business. You may only get one chance. Never depend on any self-defence tool or weapon to stop an attacker. Trust your body and your wits, which you can always depend on in the event of an attack.

CAR-JACKING CAN BE AVOIDED

Lock all doors and keep windows up while driving. Most car-jacking takes place when vehicles are stopped at intersections. The criminals approach at a 45-degree angle which is a blind spot and either pull you out of the driver’s seat or jump in the passenger’s seat

BE PREPARED DURING TRAVEL

Violent crimes happen in the best and worst hotels around the world. Predators may come in guise of a hotel employee. He may push his way through an open or unlocked door. He may be in possession of a pass key to the room. Never open your door unless you are certain the person on the other side is legitimate.

INTERNET SHOULD BE USED WISELY

Although the Internet is full of education and entertainment, it can also be full of dangers, if one isn’t careful. When communicating online, use a nickname and always keep personal information such as home address and phone number confidential. Instruct family members to do the same. Keep current on security issues, frauds, viruses, etc.

Enjoy your adventures!

FIRE IN BELLY!!!

Crowding around the bonfire,

Moon light shining on us,

Day been toiling,

For we strode miles of greens and highs,

Chatting now on our life gone by,

Musing on our moments valued,

Floating our stories,

Now realising sunshine has descended.

And yet the fire in our middle,

Still smoldering,

Prompting us to keep up pedantry,

On and on we went on,

Till our shepherd nudged us,

Double up and set the day get going.

Fire still burning in our bellies,

Tamed lot as we are,

Setting our limits and stretching it far,

Fire still burns in our heart,

And we keep trudging,

Exploring and discovering what remains yet fathomed,

Learning and growing as life carries on with lively soul,

Prompting others to follow on,

Setting no boundaries to limit us,

Not looking back,

Eyes set on horizon afar,

Tamed destiny leading our path.

AIM HIGHER!!!

When I think, I should do it, I have will to do it… I eventually succeed.

The energy and power of self-confidence empower human mind and body, accomplish any task.

We should never, ever underestimate our capabilities.

Take example of our daily activities, going around in our mundane lives. So many times we overcome an issue, which we thought did not have a solution and beyond our capabilities. Don’t we find solutions when we think rationally and logically?

Most humans normally avoid attempting anything when they think it is difficult, entails hazard or has risk involved. They feel it is best to carry on with normal lives and avoid taking risks. They live a bare minimum life. We normally tend to avoid discomfort, when there is fear of unknown and risk. These thoughts are very powerful motivators in our lives. This is how we have evolved and learnt from our ancestors. That is what dictates our actions making us live in comfort zones.

When we enquire and research, build our passion to attempt those activities which entail risks and adventure, we grow manifold, mentally and physically. There are many among us who do not make excuses, attempt things which are unknown and not realized/experienced so far. We look at wider horizon of perspectives in our lives. There is need to build up courage, stamina and will power to attempt which we have not realized so far. When we are not careful about what we actually want from our lives, we lose what may be important and set a wrong example to our youngsters.

When we talk about experiencing Adventure, it does not necessarily mean extremes like Globe-trotting on foot. It could be experiencing any activity or thought which exhilarates us, which pulls us out of easy living. We just need to come out of our notion of feeling impossible which actually stands for I m possible! Practice regularly, move one step at a time attempting more and more difficult activities and build up your capabilities. We just need to plan systematically and move on regardless.

Do not unduly expect wonders to happen overnight. Start in a small way. Come out of fear of failure. Do not expect too much from yourself. As you attempt different tests, you keep growing to seek more difficult ones. Experience and positive attitude do make one matured and successful. We need to set our priorities right. Do we want to end up our lives, leading a routine and easy way? Or we want to achieve what a normal person would think impossible.

To begin with, start in a small way. Keep attempting. Things will start falling in place, one by one…

PEEK OUT OF QUAGMIRE!!!

When you were busy in your wanderings,

Playing games of your lives,

Outsmarting your near and dear ones,

In your best days and times,

You forgot all those around.

When the down side of life started,

You started crying,

Its then you remembered Him,

Trying to prove,

He forgot you,

As later someone told you,

He was always there watching you.

It’s only the paths you had chosen,

Were not suited to His calling,

Making your spirit feeble,

Far from sublime.

That’s how you ran into barriers,

Making your trails not to vanquish,

As hardship is ringing the bell,

It’s time to quell,

Come back on right track,

Before it’s late and there is no turning back.

In this wilderness of concrete jungles,

There are wild creatures in human forms,

Easy to get lost and swept away,

Realise how to deal,

For language of love and care,

Prevails here too,

If you are on a journey of courage and fortitude,

Same are the proven ways to get through,

So Be Thankful In All Things.

COUNTER THE RISKS !!!

All kinds of Adventure travel present some amount of risks. An unfamiliar environment or doubts about one’s ability to achieve the objective can make the experience adventurous. It will be in everyone’s interest if the inherent risks are reduced and controlled to tolerable levels. In this way an environment can be created in which individuals can experience the challenges and benefits of the activity, but with minimal actual risk to their safety.

For most of the travellers some amount of risk is acceptable also; that is how it makes an activity Adventurous. However, no one should seek these risks without considering plans to counter them. At least, one should prepare himself/herself to minimise them. The best approach in this regard is to know about them and train. Be prepared to face them as they come. Person engaging himself in an activity must not consider themselves immune from accidents, regardless of their experience or level of competence

By loading yourself with right knowledge, you can ask your travel company the right questions to alleviate the known and perceived risks.

Some basic questions you need to ask yourself also, i.e., Are you in good physical and mental condition?  Have you found the risks involved? Have you prepared yourself to face these risks?

The team involved in conducting the group must be fully trained in various skills, like, positive leadership, Safety and First Aid. They must also be aware about the risks involved in the activity they conduct. It is also important to use reputable and safe equipment to avoid unwarranted incidents.

The providers of outdoor adventure activities need to understand and appreciate how, and why, accidents may happen and how they can manage the safety of their participants.

In real terms, adventure travel is about opportunity, discovery, and joy. Be courageous. Be open to look for the kindness in the new people that you meet. Pack light and carry only essential items. At all times, be polite, but be inquisitive. Mix within the group or the people you are visiting. Indulge in those moments and memories which you can carry forward in your life. Look for new experiences which you can rejoice. Do it all while staying secured and insured. Do all that you love. Stay safe and stay healthy.

SOLITARY MUSINGS !!!

Solitary I appeared,

Lone I grew up, among teaming lads,

Eschewing life’s offerings,

Grave to my humanly desires,

Grew I did, but lost and sunken in my excursions’ of life,

What a man I turned up,

Raven and humane to many figurines.

I adored God’s creations,

Living as Nature’s,

Little did I realize, how marvelous inward moorings could be,

Gazing and adoring expulsions of human lives.

Bellowing through human adventures,

Rushed in to various grappling of those cherished moments,

Amongst fauna and flora, ice and mountain, water and sea,

Light and darkness, joy and sadness, accomplished and lost moments,

Happy I am, as I still seek the lost and unknown,

Through miseries and wants of human life,

Among those haves and have not.

Bewildered at the unlimited varieties of God’s creation,

Humbled at His mercies,

Wanting to seek more… and more,

Alone I walk like a lone shepherd.

GLIDE IN OPEN SKY !!!

I want to travel like age old Stars,

Be with them into the unfathomed sky,

Climb into the halo of milky way,

With no fear of time, age and sure death.

I want to be the harbinger of good times,

Mellowed with skirmishes of proclivities,

Time has beckoned the shower of good fortunes.

I no longer purloin and yelp as time has made me hard-edged,

Content and toughened,

Untraveled paths beckon me.

I no longer layoff my excursions,

As I am ready now to take on challenges,

Life brings forth.

I take now paths less traversed,

For I have now imaginings and poise,

As the time flies and age catches on,

I shall leave behind glances and views,

For others to embark,

And that will make all the difference,

My friend,

Here I motion you to,

Take on where I guide.

TRANSFORMATION !!!

The sea and ravines,

I came from the earthen homestead,

I sought spread of greens and open waters,

As I gazed into vibrant span of Nature’s window,

A peace would engulf me untold.

I arrive at the span of quirking birds and chatter of faunae,

Some are alluring, others turn me rapt,

As I sniveled to the humming valleys,

They turn me humble and yielded.

As the yearning wind and waves turn inland,

They engulf me with soft longings and brain upsurge,

I who was rampant and earthly, yearning and fervent,

Turn into tamed and humble being.

A Night At An Adventure !!!

A Mist formed around the Greens I was,

The dark night among the dwellers of the Jungle,

There roared a voice and roamed in circles,

Alongside midnight from waters vivacious and weighty.

Tall on each Tree, bush and stonework stand died the sound,

Cavernous like the squashing of a secure swarm,

Lone like the dirge of a glimmer,

Quiet like the sob of the sunk.

The woods seemed no more dead but soulful,

As a silhouette of primeval dread,

Amongst the darkness and swirling winds rose a shape,

Amid the soulful ecstasies enormous,

A figure squatted, giant and ascetic,

Front of whom mighty trees laughed,

I  Meandered Solitary Like a whisper,

I  Meandered Solitary Like a whisper,

Which hovers high over dales and knolls.

Than all at once I saw a herd,

A swarm of bison along with herd of Lions,

Alongside the lake, under the trees,

Tangling horns and wrestling  amongst the waft,

Tossing their heads in spry dance.

Among these merry company,

I eyed and eyed but little I thought,

What wealth Nature had brought to me…

MUST IF YOU MUST !!!

Must if you have to,

Wouldn’t it be better,

If you paint the countryside, Green.

Paint a picture,

Of Mountainside,

Write a poem of,

Your adventures,

Of the Tracks and Trails.

Ponder the difference,

Of your haves, and Must,

To have,

For it pains for Have not’s.

Must If You Must,

For there is not much Time,

Civilization is under Storms,

For NO One knows,

What is Next,

In coming Seconds.

Ponder and decide,

What is YOUR next Adventure.

Trails to be Tamed,

Heights to be Conquered,

NATURE to be Explored,

For its God’s own Creation.

IT’S ABOUT MIND, BODY AND SOUL…

The amazing thing about the wilderness is that, it prompts us to use our innate survival and reasoning skills, the ones seldom used in our comforted ways of living. A journey into the Nature’s wilderness can make unimaginable changes in a person’s life path.

It is all about way of thinking and priorities in life… If someone chooses to be an Adventure Traveller, then his/her character could be shaped and moulded. If someone travels outdoors because he/she wants to learn how they will respond to what the environment has to offer; it will definitely enrich him/her with life’s so far unknown lessons and experiences. I love the outdoors and have chosen to share how wonderful it is.

I grew up in countryside and amongst nature. This made me a drifter. I worked in many cities of various states. I loved, so travelled for many years; on my own or with groups. Time and again I felt the strange/invigorating AURA of new terrain and its inhabitants; a sensation of exploring unfamiliar physical and spiritual geography. That brought me closer to the kind of experiences that were not known to me earlier. For these reasons, I want to keep wildness and wilderness in my life.

There are people who cannot just be termed thrill seekers.  They have a natural, inherent, and insatiable curiosity about the physical universe around them. These persons have the inner universe of the mind and the soul. They turn into true risk takers, the true adventurers, who return from their experiences with broader minds, stronger bodies, and purer souls…

ENTITLEMENTS OF ADVENTURE!!!

What entails an Adventure? Adventure is a passion set deep in the heart of every man or woman. Self-reliance and self-evaluation are just two of the outcomes from outdoor pursuits. Everyone loves to be challenged. No phones, electronics, fast food or media overload. Just you and your surroundings

Adventure activity involves using your wits and self-motivation to get through any situation you may encounter. You find out more about yourself than you thought possible. Plus, you get to savour some of the greatest gifts we’ve been given…nature’s gifts to us. The beauty out there is for us to partake and  something to take advantage of. I feel it definitely brings best out of us and transforms us into a more confident human being.

No experience can make you into something that isn’t already inside you. But outdoor experiences  break away the exterior and reveal true character. In facing nature as it is, you often face yourself as YOU are.

The really best thing about a true wilderness experience, and the experiences over a long time by one’s self, present to us, a whole range of emotions, allowing us to feel the joys, fears, delights, pain, sorrow, happiness, sadness, anxiety, assurance, and many more emotions.

According to me, adventure has no value without some kind of risk involved. When going on various adventure activities, it is better to tell yourself: Why plan EVERYTHING in its details beforehand? It’s like programming a computer, and no one is a computer. You should rather use your senses to analyse the situation and in case of a crisis, make the best of it with the knowledge and equipment that you have at hand during that stage. It’s self over situations. It’s an absolute positive approach to overcoming a difficult situation. That’s the best way to make it the best remembrance of your whole adventure activity. However, it doesn’t mean that you shouldn’t take the basic and necessary precautions.

adventure ! it beckons!

Adventure through the wilderness spikes up feelings in an avid backpacker and most especially a mountaineer. They take it up either to escape the hassle and complexities of city life or to be one with nature, The thrill of going into unexplored territory tests a person’s skill in coping up with the challenges of nature and its basic resources.

Adventure in wilderness is one sport that anyone can enjoy either with a team, a group of friends, with a partner or even on his own. Each one of them offer unique experiences, once in a while. But before one can venture out into the wilderness on his own, it is advised that he first join an organised climb and learn the basic mountaineering skills for his safety and enjoyment.

Team leader of a trip should have acquired and mastered the basic skills at the minimum and have a good record of experiences before he leads a group. This is due to the fact that still, mountaineering unfolds dangerous experiences.
