A true leader,
That each man under him would like to be,
Who possesses unstinting self,
Will turn out to be shaped,
When executing tasks on the ground,
He will have a simple plan,
Show inward brightness,
And steer his men with a leading light.
He will distinguish right from wrong,
With his differentiating power,
It will be delight to learn,
Under his leadership.
He will stand by his convictions,
Take utmost care of his honor.
When doomed to undergo,
Pain, hardship and misery,
He will employ a resolve,
That will show,
Cleanest human virtue.
Reins his men,
Mollifies and transforms them.
Is supple when need be,
Ready to sacrifice his dearest possession,
Is pure with self-knowledge,
Capable to endure in toughest times.
When lies bare in anguish and grief,
He turns fond and animated.
Works hard when something to be set right,
Calm during conquests,
Credits his men to all the successes,
Owns their weaknesses,
And guides them to set them right.
He will function unto his last resolve,
And hand over when he feels,
It’s time to step down.
Still remains a guiding star,
Lead from front and inspire,
Expecting little and giving maximum,
He is the man to lead and follow.
